Is it just me or is British journalism (other than the BBC) kind of trashy and tabloidy? It seems like whenever Google News leads me to a non-bbc british news site it has an unusually, sensationalist, low brow feeling about it.
No it is not just you. However there are four newspapers which aren't trashy or tabloidy: the Times, the Daily Telegraph, the Independent and the Guardian.
I have my own feelings about them too. And as for the BBC! Don’t get me started.

I'm not sure I agree with The Guardian, but the other 3 are alright. The Times is my favourite
I hasten to add, in support of Naomi, that I detest everything about The Guardian.
